Medical professionals are becoming more knowledgeable about the healing
properties of massage therapy and are commonly integrating the services of
massage therapists.
Medical community increasingly is prescribing medical massage to compliment
traditional medical treatment as they begin to understand the benefits of
massage. Since the goal is to make the patient well, doctors are looking at
every possibility available.
According to a survey published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary
Medicine, 49 U.S. medical schools offer courses in alternative medicine,
including Harvard Medical School.
Insurance providers and managed care organizations continue to recognize the
advantages of massage therapy. They are realizing the cost savings of massage
and more often covering the therapy when it is a prescribed aspect of
treatment.
